MASOOR TOOR DAL (INDIAN LENTIL SOUP)

РУССКИЙ

Sourthern Tel-Aviv is an interesting place… It might not be as crowded as it is in the video and there are plenty of guys there wearing border security force uniform. An Indian food shop…Oh, here was the lentil I had been looking for in many places. Now, cooking a real Indian soup of two lentil varieties is no more a dream. They are Masoor, the red lentil, and Toor, the yellow lentil in the picture. Cook the soup (dal) as usual: rinse the lentil, cook it until tender and thickened (it takes a long time). Cook it with onions, garlic and tomatoes, finely chopped.

To the cooked dal, add TADKA (pre-heat ghee and fry grated ginger, hot pepper, mustard seeds or any other spices to your taste).

Add salt and tadka, cook a little more, and here is a daily meal of Indian commoners.
